How Does MedExpress Pricing Work?

MedExpress pricing is broken down into two distinct components per order to ensure a safe and fully supported medical experience:

  1. The Medication Cost: The price of the physical medication itself. Please note that medication pricing may vary depending on your prescribed dosage strength as you progress through your treatment.

  2. The Program Fee: A separate fee charged per order. This fee does not cover the physical medication, but instead goes toward the clinical and operational management of your care.

What does the Program Fee cover?

  • An in-depth medical review of your consultation by a licensed Canadian clinician to ensure the treatment is safe and effective for you

  • The formal issuance of your prescription where clinically appropriate

  • Ongoing, unlimited support and clinical guidance from our customer service and medical teams throughout your entire treatment journey

How Much Will Generic Semaglutide Cost?

The total cost of generic semaglutide through MedExpress varies depending on your specific prescribed dose strength.

  • Starting Dose Cost: Our introductory starting dose is currently priced at $124.99 CAD (plus the applicable program fee).

  • Higher Doses: As your clinician increases your dosage strength over time, the price of the medication may adjust accordingly.

Do I need to sign up for a subscription?

No. You can order on a one-off basis. However, ongoing treatment typically works best when taken consistently. You are never locked in and can cancel at any time.

Will Insurance Cover Generic Semaglutide?

Prescription medication coverage and reimbursement rules vary significantly by Canadian province and by individual private health insurance plans.

  • Publicly-funded health insurance: MedExpress is not covered by publicly-funded health insurance in Canada.

  • Private insurance: Private insurance plans may cover some or all of the medication cost depending on your policy. We recommend checking directly with your provider.

  • Direct Insurance Billing: MedExpress does not directly insure treatments or process direct pharmacy billing to insurance providers.

  • Documentation support: MedExpress can provide documentation to support a claim where required.

  • Prior Authorization Support: If your insurance provider covers generic semaglutide but requires a Prior Authorization (PA) form from a clinician to unlock your benefits, our medical team can assist you. We routinely work with patients to complete and submit these required clinical forms to your insurer.

If you still have questions regarding your plan's coverage or your upcoming order invoice, additional assistance is available through our support channels.
