How do I inject Wegovy? (Multi-dose injection pen)
Wegovy® uses a multi-dose prefilled pen (The FlexTouch pen), which means you must dispose of the entire Wegovy pen after one injection.
Keep the Wegovy pen between weekly injections and attach a new needle for each injection. Each Wegovy pen contains 4 weekly doses.
Wegovy is supplied in 5 different pen strengths (0.25 mg, 0.5 mg, 1 mg, 1.7 mg, and 2.4 mg per week), each with a different coloured cap. Your pen has been set to deliver your prescribed weekly dose - you do not need to adjust the dose yourself.
Step-by-step Wegovy injection instructions
Wash your hands thoroughly.
Check that the medication in the Wegovy pen is clear and colourless. Do not use the pen if the solution is cloudy or contains particles.
Clean the injection site using an alcohol swab.
Attach a new needle to the Wegovy pen and remove both needle caps.
If using a new Wegovy pen for the first time, check the flow as described in the leaflet inside your pen packaging.
Insert the needle into your skin in your abdomen, thigh, or upper arm.
Press and hold the injection button until the dose counter shows 0.
Keep the needle in your skin and count slowly to 6 before removing the needle.
Remove the needle from your skin.
Detach the needle and dispose of it in a sharps container.
Replace the cap on the Wegovy pen and store the pen safely until your next dose
Important: Wegovy pens are multi-dose, so:
You keep the Wegovy pen after each use
You must use a new needle for every injection
Discard the Wegovy pen after 4 weekly doses, or as instructed in your leaflet
For a step-by-step demonstration, see the Wegovy injection video guide, which shows how to use the Wegovy® pen correctly.

How do I inject generic semaglutide? (Multi-dose injection pen with needle)

A 1 mg pen that delivers 1 mg per injection

Wash your hands thoroughly.

Important: Generic semaglutide pens are multi-dose, so:
You keep the pen after each use
You must use a new needle for every injection
Note on doses above 1 mg per week: Generic semaglutide pens currently deliver a maximum of 1 mg per injection. If your prescribed weekly dose is higher than 1 mg, you will need to give yourself more than one injection per week. See the Dosing & Treatment article for full multi-injection guidance.
Note on pen presentation: If your generic semaglutide pen looks different from a previous order, this may be because the product has been supplied by a different manufacturer. The active ingredient and dose are the same. Always check the strength on the packaging and follow the instructions provided with your specific pen. If you are unsure, do not inject and contact our clinical support team.
